Beauty Vacation Preparation
Hello beauties,
As many of you may know I have a two trips planned extremely close to each other. I'll be attending Toronto, Canada IMATS September 26th and 27th and the day after I get back from Toronto I'll be flying out to San Diego, California to see my younger brother graduate from the Marine Corps boot camp..
Before a trip/vacation/holiday I like to do a little beauty preparation: skin, hair, nails, body, and more. Today I'll be sharing with your my Beauty Vacation Preparation Routine.
My skin type is dry combo, sensitive, and acne prone. I have some skincare products that I swear by when it comes to getting my skin ready for travel. Of course my number one tip to prepare your skin and body for travel is to drink plenty of water but a little skincare routine can help too ;) Washing all makeup off at the end of the night is extremely important and can do a world of good for your skin. My holy-grail face wash is the Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. It's wonderful for all skin types not only dry.
At the moment my two favorite face masks are Lush Mask of Magnaminty and The Sacred Truth. Lush Mask of Magnamity is a great mask for preventing or toning down acne. It's also exfoliating so it's great for removing dry skin. The Sacred Truth is an amazing mask for adding hydration. Lush Let the Good Times Roll is an exfoliating facial cleanser and it smells like Garrett's Popcorn which is a huge plus.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray is a product I have sworn by for many years now. It's wonderful for hydrating the skin, toning down redness, and feels wonderful on the skin. This is a product that I love to spray on my skin right after cleansing and it can also be used over makeup as a nice refreshing mist. I'll bring this in the car and on the plane with me to freshen up my skin if it's feeling dull.
Getting a little random here, there is an Earth Therapeutics facial mask that I've been loving lately. It's a mask that I'll use after it's spent some time in the fridge. The cooling sensation is wonderful and really de-puffs and awakens the skin.
Teeth whitening does not have to cost and arm and a leg. The product I've been using for more than a year now is the Plus White 5 Minute Premier Whitening System Speed Whitening Gel. Leighannsays recommended this is a video once and I've been using it ever since. It's super inexpensive and whitens extremely well. If it's your first time purchasing this product I recommend purchasing the starter kit because there is a tray that comes in the set. If you have a retainer or Invisalign trays I recommend using those as they hold the whitening gel in place better then the tray provided in the set. To prevent sensitivity I'd stick to using this no more than once a week.
Not sure if I'm alone in this but I do not like getting manicures. I leave with the skin around my nails torn up and my cuticles pushed back too far. I prefer to take care of my nails myself, I find myself painting my nails every 3-4 days which is fine with me. However, when I'm on vacation I don't want to have to bring my base coat, top coat, nail polish remover, etc. To keep my packing light and my nails looking fresh I enjoy the Salon Hansen Salon Effects French Mani Real Nail Polish Strips. These are a little expensive and time consuming to put on fortunately, they look gorgeous and last an extremely long time on the nails. We used these for Alex's sister's wedding instead of getting manicures and we all loved them. I'm hoping these will last through both of my trips :)
A haircare, skincare, and bodycare favorite that I just can't get enough of is Coconut Oil. I'll use this in my hair as a hair mask leaving it in for 30 minutes or so and then shampooing it out. If my skin is feeling dull or dry I'll use it as a face mask, leaving it on for 30 minutes or so and washing off with a cleanser. If my skin is feeling dry I'll put a spoon full into a bath, soak for a while, and pat dry with a towel. It's all around a great moisturizer and I think it's great for all skin types. If you were looking for an overnight mask for your hair that doesn't require any washing out and is "pillow safe" I highly recommend Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector. I'll use this on the ends of my hair on a nightly bases, I'll even bring it up to my roots if my hair is feeling dry or looking dull from dry shampoo.
I've found some game changing products recently. Lush Copperhead Shampoo Bar has been incredible to use these past few months. It smells like coffee, lathers up really well, shampoos perfectly, and has enhanced the natural color of my hair. Because there is hemp in the bar it will naturally enhance reds.
There is a shampoo and conditioner that I've been loving from Redken, it's their Frizz Dismiss Shampoo and Conditioner. They smell amazing, moisturize extremely well, and I feel have really helped with frizz without drying out my hair.
I truly hope this post was helpful. If you are heading out for vacation have fun and if you've stopped by to read and prepare for future trips, thanks so much. I appreciate each and every one of you. We recently reached 20,000 beauties on my Beauty YouTube channel and I'm so thankful and excited for the future. THANK YOU <3
